Spring 2026 Update: Task Groups, Permissions, Activity Log, and More

Nine new features designed to give you more control over how you organize work, who can access what, and what's happening across your team — all in real time.

The last few weeks have been busy. We've shipped a wave of features that touch nearly every part of TRCR — from how you organize tasks, to who can see what, to what happens when you're away from your desk. Here's everything that's new.

Task Groups: Organize Work Your Way

A flat list of tasks works fine when you have ten items. But when a project grows to fifty or a hundred tasks, you need structure. Task groups (also called sections) let you break tasks into meaningful categories — by phase, priority, team, or whatever makes sense for your workflow.

Every space starts with a default “General” group. Add as many groups as you need, rename them, and drag them into the order that fits. Each team member can collapse or expand groups independently, and that preference stays in sync across all your devices.

Board-Level Permissions & the New Client Role

Not everyone on a project needs to see everything. With board-level permissions, you can now assign contributor or viewer roles to individual members within a space. Contributors can create and edit. Viewers can see but not change. Permissions flow down automatically — set access on a space and every block inside inherits it.

We've also introduced a dedicated client role. Invite your clients into TRCR with restricted access so they can follow progress, leave comments, and review deliverables — without accidentally editing task statuses or seeing internal conversations.

Activity Log: See Who Changed What, and When

Ever wonder who moved that task to “Done” or why a due date changed? The new Activity Log gives you a complete audit trail of every action in your organization. Filter by entity type, click any entry to see the exact before-and-after values, and know exactly what happened.

It's available under Settings → Activity Log for organization admins, and it updates in real time — no refresh needed.

Profile Avatars & Organization Logos

Small details make a workspace feel like yours. Upload a profile photo from your settings page, and it appears everywhere — in comments, assignments, and the team directory. Organization admins can also upload a company logo that shows up in the sidebar, on invoices, and across shared views.

Task Status Email Notifications

You don't always have TRCR open. Now, when a task you created or are assigned to changes status — say, from “In Progress” to “Review” — you'll get an email notification so you never miss an update. It's automatic: no configuration, no notification fatigue. You only hear about the things that matter to you.

Deep Linking to Tasks

Share a link to any task and the recipient lands exactly where they need to be. Deep links open the task detail panel inline — whether you're on the dashboard, the audit log, or a space page. No navigation required, no context lost. Copy the URL from your browser, drop it in Slack or an email, and your teammate sees the task instantly.

Sidebar Spaces Hierarchy

The sidebar now displays your spaces as a fully expandable tree. Nested blocks appear as sub-items, so you can navigate your entire project structure without leaving the page you're on. Right-click any space for a context menu to manage settings, add blocks, or jump to tasks. Collapse state syncs across all your devices.

Redesigned Mobile Menu

Managing projects on your phone just got easier. The new full-screen mobile menu features larger touch targets, a collapsible spaces hierarchy, and your user profile card at the top. Every navigation item is organized for one-hand use — whether you're approving a task on the train or checking time entries between meetings.

Animated Timer Favicon

A small but delightful touch: when your timer is running, the browser tab icon animates with a spinning clock hand. Glance at your tab bar from any window and instantly know whether you're on the clock. When the timer stops, the favicon returns to its static state. It's the kind of detail that saves you from forgetting to stop — or start — your timer.

All of these features are live now and available on every plan. Log in to app.trcr.pro to try them, or create a free account to get started.
