Product Update

April Productivity Update: Report Exports, Inline Editing, Bulk Paste & More

This week we shipped a batch of features designed around one theme: spend less time managing your tracker and more time doing the work. Export any report with one click, edit time entries without leaving the list, paste a dozen tasks at once, and navigate large boards faster than ever.

Report Exports: CSV, XLSX, and PDF

Every report in TRCR — timesheet, revenue, utilization, profitability — can now be exported in three formats. Click the export button in the top-right corner and choose CSV for raw data, XLSX for formatted spreadsheets, or PDF for polished, branded documents that include your organization's logo. PDF exports are print-ready and look great attached to client emails or board presentations.

Filters are baked in: whatever date range, project, user, or description filter you've set in the report view is exactly what gets exported. No surprises.

Inline Time Entry Editing

Previously, editing a time entry meant opening a modal. Now you can click any field directly in the time entry list — time, date, description, or project — and edit it right there. A compact time and date picker appears inline, and the project selector uses a hierarchical picker so you can drill into nested projects without leaving the row.

Changes save automatically. No confirm button, no modal, no context switch.

Manual Time Entry from the Timer Bar

Sometimes you forget to start the timer. Now you can add a manual time entry directly from the persistent timer bar at the top of the screen — no need to navigate to the time page first. Click the + icon next to the timer, fill in the times and project, and the entry appears in your list instantly.

Bulk Task Creation via Paste

Got a list of tasks in a doc, a spreadsheet, or your head? Paste them. The quick-add input now detects multi-line paste events and creates one task per line. Paste ten lines, get ten tasks — each one trimmed, sanitized, and added to the current project and group.

This pairs well with the new inline field selectors on the quick-add bar: pick a status, assignee, or priority before pasting, and every created task inherits those defaults.

Compact Board Mode

Projects with dozens of active tasks can make the board feel overwhelming. TRCR now automatically switches to a compact layout when the number of active tasks exceeds a threshold. Task rows become tighter, showing just title, status, and assignee — enough to scan quickly without losing your place.

You can also toggle compact mode manually from the board toolbar if you prefer the dense view regardless of task count.

Collapse and Expand All Task Groups

Large boards with many task groups now have Collapse All and Expand All buttons. One click folds every group into a single header row, making it easy to get a bird's-eye view of your project structure. Expand all to jump back into the details.

Your collapsed state is saved per-user, per-project — teammates see their own layout without interfering with yours.

Invoice UX Improvements

We polished the invoicing flow with several quality-of-life upgrades:

  • Client combobox. Selecting a client now uses a searchable combobox with type-ahead, making it faster to find the right client on long lists.
  • Draft deletion. You can now delete draft invoices directly. When a draft is deleted, any time entries that were marked as invoiced are automatically released back to the unbilled pool.
  • Fly animation. Newly created invoices animate into the list with a smooth fly transition, confirming the action visually.

Reports: Shareable URLs and Financial Details

Report filters — date range, project, user, preset — are now synchronized with the URL. Copy the URL and share it with a teammate; they'll see exactly the same report view. Bookmark your favorite weekly timesheet or monthly revenue report for instant access.

Reports also now include financial details (subtotals, tax, totals) and support filtering by time entry description, so you can zero in on exactly the data you need.

Redesigned Sidebar

The sidebar got a refresh. The organization switcher is streamlined — switching between orgs is now a single click instead of a dropdown-within-a-dropdown. The sidebar state (collapsed or expanded) persists across sessions, so it stays where you left it.

We also simplified the Spaces page by removing the nested tree view that was more confusing than helpful. Projects are now listed flat with clear hierarchy indicators, making navigation faster and more predictable.

What's Next

We're continuing to focus on speed and power-user workflows. Up next: keyboard shortcuts for common board actions, batch status updates, and drag-and-drop time entry reordering. Stay tuned.
